Why become a Freemason?

Freemasonry has different meaning for each person who joins (known as initiation). For some it is simply about meeting new likeminded friends and acquaintances. For others charity is the main motive and indeed all members are involved in charitable activities. Some people are excited by old traditions and rituals and are attracted by the rich history and mysteries surrounding the Craft which they can enjoy as a hobby. The reasons are many but one thing is certain - Freemasonry attracts and unites people who share sound morals and an ethical approach to life. Friendship, Charity and Integrity are timeless values that are the foundation of the fraternity.
